Electrical Safety Training

We offer electrical safety classes that are based on the requirements of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and NFPA 70E. These classes emphasize understanding of electrical safety principles and practices that are applicable to equipment and voltages found in many facilities.

Electrical Safety for Electrical Workers

You know that electricity can be dangerous. Electrical workers must be able to work safely where electrical hazards are or may be present. That’s not just an OSHA requirement; it’s common sense. This course teaches electrical workers, from apprentices up, the principles and practices of electrical safety that they’ll need to plan a job and work it while effectively managing the risks from electric shock and arc flash. Electrical safety concepts are explained in a way that allows the worker to understand not only what is required but how to recognize when additional work practices and PPE may be necessary.

Electrical Safety for Operators

Operators in industrial facilities often perform tasks involving electrical equipment when they may not be aware of the hazards present. Not understanding electrical shock and arc flash can place the operator at a serious disadvantage. Workers without electrical safety training may not recognize electrical hazards that can lead to personal injury, equipment damage, and lost time. This class will teach operators the electrical safety principles and practices they need in order to operate their equipment safely.

Electrical Technical Training

Our electrical technical training classes are based on the industry standards such as the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), NFPA 70B, IEEE, ASTM, and NETA Standard for Maintenance Testing Specifications (MTS). These classes emphasize understanding of the electrical maintenance and testing principles and practices that are used on all types of electrical equipment.

Grounding and Bonding Seminar

It has been estimated that more than 70 percent of all electrical problems in industrial, commercial and institutional power systems are due to poor bonding and grounding of electrical equipment. Without proper grounding and bonding, electrical and electronic equipment is subject catastrophic damage. Personal injury or death may also result. This electrical grounding and bonding class, based on the latest edition of Soares Grounding and Bonding, will give participants a comprehensive understanding of practical applications of proper grounding and bonding practices that will help you comply with the requirements of the National Electrical Code.

Course Duration: 2 Days                     Course Cost: $2800/Day (On-Site; Does not include expenses)

Operation and Maintenance Safety for Renewable Energy Sites

Employees in renewable energy companies need an understanding of collector system and substation safety principles and practices used while performing routine operation and maintenance or medium- and high-voltage equipment. Safety regulations and industry consensus standards as well as practical experience are used to familiarize both field and non-field employees with the principles and practices of substation and collector system operation and maintenance. Classroom discussions will be supplemented with field exercises that will reinforce understanding of the material and promote safe work practices.

Course Duration: 3 Days                   Course Cost: $2800/Day (On-Site; Does not include expenses)

Substation Maintenance Seminar

Maintenance is a vital component of your electrical safety program and the need to maintain equipment is a safe operating condition helps create a safe environment for workers while improving reliability and productivity. Industry consensus standards as well and practical application are used to familiarize both field and non-field employees with the principles and practices needed to maintain outdoor and indoor substations; this information may also be applied to non-substation electrical distribution equipment.
